Error: Unable to assign assets, please try again later

Are you trying to share access to your Meta assets but encountered this error "Unable to assign assets, please try again later” during the process?

Here are 4 possible reasons and solutions to resolve this error.

1) Meta Verified’s added security. If your business Page or Instagram professional account is Meta Verified with that blue check mark, then it automatically enrolls your Business Portfolio for advanced protection features to prevent hacking or impersonation. Those added measures prevent you from assigning assets to a Meta Partner.

To resolve this:

  • You’ll have to approach Meta’s support staff to assign those assets manually. The more expensive your plan, the quicker (and more personalized) the support you receive.
  • Cancel the Meta Verified subscription. This may not be an option for notable figures or businesses, so we’d suggest to go with contacting support as your first choice.

2) If this is a new Business Portfolio (or one you’ve not used often), check if your email address is confirmed. Here’s how to check if your email is verified:

To resolve this:

  • Navigate to Business Portfolio information.
  • Scroll down to ‘My Info’ and look under ‘Email’.
  • If you see a message asking you to confirm your email, go ahead and click on Resend email if that’s the right address.

  • Visit your inbox and open the email to click Confirm.

Confirming your email will enable you to assign Meta assets to a Partner after!

3) Two-factor authentication is needed. This is an obscure bug we found that prevents you from assigning business assets. In this case, Meta needs you to go through 2FA (two-factor authentication) to continue.

To resolve this:

  • Try to assign assets to your agency or Partner.
  • If that fails, click on this reauthentication link (it’s an official Meta link!).
  • Get your 2FA code via the app or other methods such as SMS, backup codes, etc.

  • Type in the 2FA code and click Confirm.
  • Go back to Partners with this link.
  • Click Assign assets now and try again.

4) The last possible reason is that you’ve already assigned those business assets to a Partner. If you have selected the exact same permissions for the same assets already assigned to a Meta Partner and clicked on Confirm, you’ll meet with the error message "Unable to assign assets, please try again later". This isn’t a real error—in this case, nothing has changed!
